I've been pregnant now for over thirty-eight nine weeks and frankly, I'm ready for it to be over. I met my goals of being healthier, more active, and gaining, well not gaining a shit-ton of weight. Check, Check, and CHECK.
Now I just need labor to commence. Or not.*
I had planned back in May, and June to write a lot more in these past nine ten months. Apologies, ya'll ... I had to prioritize. Noah first, my health and sanity second and everything else was a way distant third. I'm happy to say that Noah is fine, perhaps he even thrived some days and that was no small feat seeing as how I tossed some crackers and cereal bars, apple sauce and bananas in his direction for several months and forced him to watch hours of Nick Jr. shows like The Backyardigans and Dora the Explorer, also, the acid-trip-inspired Wow Wow Wubbzy.
Now that I'm finally feeling like my pregnant self and maintaining just enough energy to get through one day at a time, it's almost time to close this chapter. There is a very real possibility that this is my last pregnancy and I am trying to enjoy all the moments of heartburn and near-incontinence, bone-numbing fatigue and the loving simultaneous stabs at my pancreas and cervix.
After a month of weekly doctor visits where at least three of them involved peeing in a cup and laying naked from the waist down on a paper-covered table with my toddler son sitting in a stroller three inches from my naked ass eating crackers, I finally got to go in today ALONE for a sort-of-unplanned-not-quite-emergency visit.
After a night of contractions every 7-9 minutes that were more than uncomfortable but not totally painful for over five hours and waking up with an increasingly WORSE head-chest cold I called the office and begged to be seen just in case I had managed to dilate another fraction of a centimeter.
Surprise Surprise! No dilation. I have a very stubborn cervix, no doubt, apparently due to the inner petiteness of my pelvis.
So after a month of time spent walking on a treadmill, visualizing "natural" birth, hiring a doula, reading books and worrying about episiotomy vs. tear ....
*I'm going in Saturday morning for a repeat C-Section.
And I'm really happy about it too.
Congrats. And please update as soon as you can!
