I spent Noah's nap time today raking old wet leaves from the corners of the backyard and tossing them over the fence. I sprinkled grass seed and fertilizer in the bare spots and got my hands dirty enough to really long for those early Spring days when I can plant my seeds and new flowers and watch them grow in the warm sunlight.
This was an infinitely more enjoyable way of spending his nap hours particularly when compared to how I spent my afternoon hours earlier this week.
I'm contemplating putting in a small raised bed in the backyard in which to grow some tomatoes, some lettuce and possibly a few bell peppers. I want to do herbs, basil, parsley, rosemary and lavender in my pots on the deck. If I could rig up some sort of upside-down tomato growing thingy I could have even more ground space for squash and strawberries.

Some girlfriends are taking me out for fondue dessert tonight as a late birthday treat. We have a busy day tomorrow with play-dates and Curious George and possibly more yard cleaning for me.
