After the non-hurricane Hanna came through on Saturday we had a nice weekend of late-summer weather.  Marc of course had serious NFL-related activities to celebrate. 

It's late and I'm posting this mainly because I need to freakin' update this site more often!  I posted something snarky about some Republican women who don't actually know that everything they stand for is hurting women across America, and it ended up on FamousDC.

In other totally unrelated news I have been going through my BOOKMARK tab and there are a lot of sites that no longer exist.   I suppose maintaining a blog is hard and often times people run out of things to write about or choose to take their life OFF-line.  But I'm still here, blabbering about the minutiae of my life.  Yeah me!

I'm thinking about going to BlogHer Tour DC.  The one-day BlogHer conference.  I have told people that I am going and even posted a little button on the top of this page but I still haven't actually paid and registered for the conference.  I am a little scared about meeting other bloggers and more to the point, not knowing any other bloggers.  I feel on the outside of something great, sort of like high school.  Oh, and business cards?  Do I need something to give people so that they'll remember who I am?  I am a stay at home mom doing an almost invisible amount of "freelance" writing, so do I need to get some business cards?  And then there is the issue of nursing. Marc said he would stay home with Noah for the day but I still nurse him a few times during the day so perhaps I'll need a button that says "Leaking at BlogHer".

So to sum it up, Hai! Welcome new readers. I can do more than write stupid things.  Like this! Only, wait, check back tomorrow! Bai!

Ladies of teh GOP

I came across this photo, ironically on CNN, and I took a good look at each of these women with the hopes of finding something to make fun of at their expense. Surprise! It wasn't that hard.

Sarah Palin:  Fran Drescher called and reports that she had a trademark on that hair style.  Unless you plan on using your power to get her knocked off maybe you wanna try a new style?

Laura Bush: How is it that you look like your husband's twin?  The shit-eating dumbfounded grimace is contagious, apparently. And it isn't so becoming on you.

Cindi McCain: Apparently the spray-on tan didn't quite get your ankle.  Cindi?  Maybe some nude hose will cover that in the future.  Also, you look like a twelve year old, lay off the Botox. And maybe you should carry tinted glasses for those looking at you, lest your teeth blind them.

The end of summer

I was working on a posting all day today.  It began with me just trying to sort out my own opinions once and for all about this whole PALIN issue but before I could even get to those issues I wrote a massive MASSIVE paragraph about my values and opinions and political preferences and then I hit SAVE DRAFT because I'm not THAT stupid.

I have spent many years of my life being timid and shy, doing and saying what I believed to be the right thing at the moment but now that I'm a MOM and we all know that changes you forever in many ways including but not limited to the skin on your boobs becoming akin to what I imagine scrotal skin is like on a ninety-year-old: saggy, thin, stretch-marky and overall unforgiving and unattractive.  Oh, and being a parent makes you more likely to speak your mind and stand up for yourself.  So, I am going to publish my RANT.  Just give me one more day to run the speel checker, okay?

As if writing my opinions about a candidate who doesn't even have a damn shred of a prayer of getting my vote wasn't futile enough I've been sitting in my living room all day staring into the empty kitchen-den room waiting for The Floor Guys to show up two hours late. Once they arrived they were nice and friendly and once again, it just amazes me when MEN get all cutesy and wussy over Noah.  I get it! I know I have a very cute baby and he will smile at you when you blubber random sounds in his direction.  But I only expect this behavior from people who have ovaries. 

The baby-lovers removed the Horrifically Disgusting Carpet with Stains and Smells and then took out all the staples and carpet tacking and then put down an underlay floor which is really just a layer of thin plywood.  I think they must have me mistaken for someone who actually turns the house upside down every week to shake it clean because they used and I swear I am not even making this up, eleven thousand electric-compressed-air-fired nails.  It was not a quiet procedure. 

I am now starting to really like the yellow walls because the floor, even the underlay is a lighter color than the carpet and I'm getting a sense of how light and open the room will feel.  It will be completed tomorrow and I will take pictures just as soon as I remove my lips from the smooth-easily-Swifferable surface.  Oh that reminds me, I need to buy a Swiffer. 

It also occurred to me this afternoon that it is TUESDAY already, not Monday. I spent Monday sitting under a tree in Lovettsville taking silly pictures with Noah and eating bits of fried foods and I haven't even posted on those other job blogs of mine. Oh, shit.

I'm going to go do that now and you can look at those lovely pictures I took of myself and Noah, upside down, with my toe pressing the camera button.
