A day spent outside is truly relaxing.
I insisted on driving to the shore last night just so that I could have one full day here and not have to worry about driving for one whole day.
I woke up this morning without an alarm, but rather, to the gentle sun rising into the window behind my bed. I chose to turn over and go back to sleep for a few more hours. I bounded out of bed at about 8:30 because I have tofishandcrabandeatbreakfastandwishauntlaurabreakalegandgetupmarc NOW!
I slept well.
I drank coffee while sitting on the dock. I taught Marc how to fish. I also taught him how to bait his own hook with a bloodworm. I set up crab pots on the dock and sat down to enjoy the morning.
For those of you who seem to feel this is your business, and frankly, I like to be reminded and praised and for being careful like this... i was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt and a hat and big sunglasses. By the way, sunglasses with big sides, protect the sides of your eyes from crow's feet. And I wore sunscreen. And, I am NOT at all burned or even tan right now. Cause ... pale is the new tan!
I caught seven crabs and took pretty pictures of them before returning them to the bay. Marc caught a tiny fish. I caught a tiny fish. Marc seemed to really enjoy fishing. He casts even better than me now, which doesn't say much cause I suck at it, but I taught him dammit, and now he is better than me, in like, one day!
Marc and I kayaked around the peninsula and across the creek to the beach.
We ate crabs and played with animals.
I did not drive a car today. I walked thru the garden this morning and got dew all over my feet and ate cherry tomatoes directly off the vine. I wiped my hands on my jeans all day. I did not take a shower until 10:15pm. I got a lot of bloodworm blood and fish guts all over me and my clothes.
And it all felt really good.
That is a lot of white linen sun protection!
Sittin' on the dock of the bay... watching the clouds roll away ...
Row, Row, Row the boat! ( I am so cheesy, I hate myself)
That is a big bowl o' crabs!
Marc caught this fish! And wow! Check out that ring!
Proof that jewish city-boys can learn to fish.
